Our Philosophy - Friendship
Our Probus Club exists to provide fellowship for retired men (and their partners) who value meeting and socializing with “like–minded” members.
In the spirit of friendship, we offer welfare to members who may need visiting or transport.
Our Club is non-secretarian and non-political - we are not directly involved in charitable fundraising.
We operate with a minimum of rules and formality.
New members are always made welcome.

Our History - The Origin of Probus Clubs
In the mid 1960’s, two retired business men, members of Rotary, realized the need to provide the fellowship that men missed when they retired from their working lives.
The inaugural luncheon of the first PROBUS Club was held on 2nd March 1966 at the Valley Hotel Caterham, attended by 35 members.
In May 1966, Harold Blanchard became the Chairman of the first committee to be formed. Harold Blanchard is now regarded as the “Father” of Probus, and is commemorated by plaques placed in St. John’s Church and Soper Hall, Caterham.
Clevedon Probus Club (1974), founded in October 1973, was the first to be formed in Clevedon
