Open Guest Meeting October 2015
Talk - Clevedon Pilot Gig Boat Club, given by Andrew Brown.
Members and invited Guests enjoyed a very entertaining and informative talk given by Andrew Brown, a founding member and currently chairman of CPGBC.
Andrew's talk was illustrated with a "torrent" of slides which together with his commentary and amusing anecdotes, gave us a very colourful insight into the birth and life of the CPGBC.
Andrew explained how the idea for the club was "floated" in Clevedon's Royal Oak Pub in February 2009 and with events to create interest, membership of the club grew - along with pledges of financial support. By Spring 2010 CPBGC were able to commission the building of their first gig - to be named "Watch and Pray". Launched from the Underfall Yard (where it was built), the gig was Named and Blessed by The Rev. Noel Hector of Clevedon. The club continues to flourish, competes in World championships and now has 5 gigs and around 90 members of all ages.
